We provide Novice, Semi-Experienced, Refresher and Conversion forklift training, allowing us to select the appropriate course based on each operator’s previous experience and training requirements.

Novice training is designed for operators with little or no previous forklift experience. It covers theory, pre-use checks, practical operation, safe load handling and final assessment.

Semi-Experienced training is for operators who already have practical experience operating a forklift but have not previously completed formal training or certification.

Refresher training is designed for previously trained operators who need to refresh their knowledge, practical skills and safe operating techniques.

Conversion training is for operators already trained on one type of forklift who need to learn how to safely operate a different truck category or type.

We’ll assess the operator’s previous training, experience and workplace requirements and recommend the most appropriate course before training begins.

No. Complete beginners can attend our Novice forklift training. We also provide courses for semi-experienced and experienced operators.

Duration depends on the operator’s experience and course type. For one candidate, Refresher and Conversion training normally takes one day, Semi-Experienced training two days, and Novice training three days. For multiple candidates or different training requirements, contact us and we can arrange a training programme to suit your workforce and operational needs.

Yes. Experienced operators may be suitable for Refresher, Semi-Experienced or Conversion training, depending on their previous training and experience.

Yes. Candidates who successfully complete the required training and assessments will receive a forklift training certificate for the equipment category they have been trained on.

Certificates are normally issued within 24–48 working hours after course has completed.

Depending on the course, candidates complete theory, pre-use inspection and practical operating assessments to demonstrate their knowledge and ability to operate safely.

Yes. Candidates complete a theory assessment covering important areas such as operator safety, responsibilities, truck stability and safe operating procedures.

Yes. Candidates must complete a practical assessment demonstrating safe truck control, observation, manoeuvring and load handling.

If a candidate does not reach the required standard, we’ll explain the areas that need improvement and recommend additional training and reassessment where appropriate.

Forklift certificates do not have a fixed legal expiry date. However, refresher training is generally recommended every three years, although this may vary depending on the employer’s company policy, the operator’s performance and workplace requirements.

Refresher training should be considered periodically and whenever necessary, particularly following unsafe operation, an accident or near miss, a significant period without operating, or changes in the workplace or equipment.

If the original training was completed with LP MHE Training and we still hold the relevant training record, contact us and we’ll check whether a replacement certificate can be issued.
